MIP-921 Version 1 & 4 Software
A cable system that has an MIP-921 encoder-decoder installed had a visit from a FCC inspection team. The inspector that evaluated the system's EAS system felt that the system did not properly log outgoing messages.
A Required Weekly Test that is received on Channels 1 through 4 is a test of the communication link between the MIP-921 and the sources it is monitoring. These weekly tests are not retransmitted by the MIP and do not override your cable system. A Required Weekly Test that is generated from the MIP-921, either automatically or from the front panel, will be logged as "Channel 0". An RWT that is from "Channel 0" will override your cable system.
The following explanation is for any other event that the MIP-921 will log.
In the "Print All Messages" mode, the MIP prints all incoming messages. If a message is retransmitted the MIP logs the message a second time after retransmission. It logs it as "Channel 0". This indicates that the message has been retransmitted.
If the "Print All Messages" mode is inactive, the MIP-921 prints only the events that the MIP is programmed for. The MIP prints the events when it is received, and after it is retransmitted it logs it a second time. The second log is from "Channel 0". This indicates that the message has been retransmitted.
